The creative writing program offers four competitive full fellowships for third-year students. Fellowships are meant to support exceptional writers in their third year allowing them to focus on thesis writing. The fellowships carry a stipend of at least $11,400 plus tuition waiver. Students apply for fellowships in the spring of their second year. Each year, listserv announcements call for applications and list deadlines for fellowship applications, usually in February.

The Graduate Student Travel Fund was established to assist George Mason graduate students who attend and participate in professional conferences pertaining to their field of study. Funds are only available to students currently enrolled in a certificate, master's or doctoral graduate program of study. GSTF financial support is limited and currently available only for those presenting. Students are eligible to receive funding one time within the fiscal year.
Interested students must complete an online application; funding determination is made by the student's faculty advisor, and by the Graduate Student Travel Fund. Please see the GSTF website for important details and deadlines.
Full-time and part-time employees at George Mason are eligible for Employee Tuition Exemption Benefits. Students are also eligible to apply for wage positions at the university. These positions offer the benefit of allowing the student to work and pursue study at the same location, but do not carry tuition benefits. For more information, visit the Human Resources website.
