Mason Writers Collaborate with Artists in Two Exhibitions

Invisible

Mason Creative Writing has a long tradition of collaborations with the performing and visual arts, adding a rich layer of experience to the MFA and BFA programs. This fall, two Call-and-Response exhibitions feature collaborative work between Mason writers and visual artists.

The first exhibition, Call & Response 2017: INVISIBLE, is openin the Fenwick Library until November 27. The paired works of artists and writers resonate together, speaking to this year’s theme Invisible. The theme was developed in conjunction with Artworks for Freedom’s ACTION DC! campaign to raise awareness of "invisible crimes" such as human trafficking and crimes against marginalized communities. Among the featured writers are Sarah Marcus, Alexandra Petrassi, Laura Ellen Scott, Jen Stein, E.R. Thompson, Holly Mason, and Dani Badra

The second call-and-response exhibition, Human Trafficking: Reclaiming Freedom, is open in Washington, D.C., at the Watergate Gallery until November 4. Among the featured writers in the Watergate exhibition are Dani Badra, Jessica Kallista, Jennifer Atkinson, Mel Nichols, Lisa Short, and Holly Mason
