Poetry Concentration

Under the guidance of the program’s world-class poetry faculty, each student in the BFA concentration in poetry develops his or her own relationship to poetic craft and voice. Grounded in the history of poetry and poetics, the curriculum exposes students to a wide array of analytic, formal, and procedural methods for the composition of poetry and other writing. Graduates cultivate mastery of sound patterning in language, precise evocation, indirect construction of meaning, and other techniques indispensable to the skilled writer.
