Art Taylor Named English Department’s 2018 Distinguished Alumnus
Art Taylor, MFA ’06, has been named the English Department’s 2018 Distinguished Alumnus. An Associate Professor of English here at Mason, he has taught creative writing, literature, and composition and now serves as Assistant Director of the Creative Writing program; for many years, he also helped to coordinate marketing for the annual Fall for the Book festival. Art is the author of On the Road with Del & Louise: A Novel in Stories, winner of the Agatha Award for Best First Novel.
 
His short fiction, primarily in the mystery genre, has won three additional Agatha Awards, the Anthony Award, two Macavity Awards, and three consecutive Derringer Awards, among other honors. He also edited the Anthony Award-winning collection Murder Under the Oaks: Bouchercon Anthology 2015. He contributes frequently to the Washington Post and to the Washington Independent Review of Books.
