Sixteen Poets Comprise Poetry Daily's New Editorial Board
16 poets from across the country comprise Poetry Daily's Editorial Board

Associate Professor of English Peter Streckfus, Poetry Daily's editorial director, recently announced the formation of a 16-poet editorial board to help steer the content and features of the 21-year-old online journal.

The poets are Kaveh Akbar, Jennifer Atkinson, Jennifer Chang, Heather Green, Yona Harvey, Amaud Jamaul Johnson, Ilya Kaminsky, Sally Keith, Sandra Lim, Layli Long Soldier, J. Michael Martinez, Aaron McCollough, Vivek Narayanan, Eric Pankey, Brian Teare, and Susan Tichy. (Click here to read their bios.)

Members of the board will publicly select poems from new books to be highlighted in the forthcoming new Poetry Daily site via a weekly feature called "Editor's Choice." Alongside Poetry Daily staff, they will also anonymously select poems from journals on a monthly basis.

Writers will have a chance to meet several of these poets who will be attending the annual conference of the Association of Writers and Writing Programs (AWP) in Portland, Oregon, in March. Poetry Daily will have a presence at the AWP Bookfair, where attendees can learn more about the new website, catch up on new features and services, and sign-up for Poetry Daily's e-newsletter.

Last fall, nonprofit Daily Poetry Association announced a partnership with George Mason University's Creative Writing Program and George Mason Libraries to assume responsibility for the production of the popular daily journal. Students in Mason's Creative Writing program have the opportunity to apply for editorial internships at Poetry Daily and to take a class that allows them to get involved in substantial ways with the production and management of the journal.

Interested BFA and MFA students can contact the Creative Writing program for more information at gwilhelm@gmu.edu.
