Timothy Denevi in CNN and LitHub: essays detailing a disquieting week

by Anne Reynolds

Timothy Denevi, faculty member in the Department of English, has made two timely contributions to major publications this week.

CNN has published Denevi’s Opinion essay, “This week in America would make RFK weep.” On the 52nd anniversary of Kennedy's assassination, Denevi reflects on his work to promote social and racial justice, contrasting it with examples from the current presidential administration.

LiteraryHub.com (“LitHub”) has published a longform essay where Denevi describes his visit to Lafayette Square in Washington, DC, on June 1, 2020, hours before police and National Guard troops forcefully cleared the square of peaceful protesters to make way for President Trump’s well-publicized and controversial visit to St. John’s Episcopal Church.
