MFA alum Robbie Maakestad spearheads new M.A. program in writing at Point Loma Nazarene University

Robbie Maakestad, MFA ’17, has launched a Creative Writing M.A. program at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, California.

The last four years I took the lead on building this MA program at PLNU and launching a new university writing center where grad students will tutor,” says Robbie about the program. “We're thrilled to offer students full funding, free tuition, and robust tutoring and teaching pedagogy courses and experiences.”

The Creative Writing M.A. at Point Loma Nazarene University is a two year, full residency program. It is the first fully funded MA in Writing program at a Council for Christian Colleges & Universities (CCCU) institution. For more information on the program, visit PLNU’s website.

Robbie Maakestad is a Senior Essays Editor for The Rumpus and an Associate Professor of Writing at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego where he directs the MA in Writing program. He is writing a biography of place about Jerusalem’s City of David archaeological site, and has been published or has forthcoming work in Boulevard, The Normal School, Gulf Coast, and The San Diego Union-Tribune, among others.
