The College of Humanities and Social Sciences is proud to honor Danielle Badra, MFA Creative Writing '17, with the 2026 CHSS G.O.L.D. - Graduate of the Last Decade award.
Badra is the 2022-2024 Fairfax County Poet Laureate and the author of Like We Still Speak, the winner of the 2021 Etel Adnan Poetry Prize.
She serves as secretary on the board of directors at Split This Rock, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit that cultivates, teaches, and celebrates poetry that bears witness to injustice and provokes social change.
Her poems have appeared in Mizna, Cincinnati Review, Duende, The Greensboro Review, Bad Pony, Rabbit Catastrophe Press, The Quarry, Beltway Poetry Quarterly, and elsewhere. Her first non-fiction piece, “My Sister, The Slayer,” was published in Manoa Journal.
