The MFA program at Mason is pleased to announce the hiring of poet Peter Streckfus to join its faculty, effective Fall 2014. Peter’s book, The Cuckoo, won the Yale Series of Younger Poets award in 2004. His subsequent work has been recognized with awards and grants from the Peter S. Reed Foundation and the Breadloaf Writer’s Conference. At the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, where he has been working as an assistant professor, Peter won the Barnwell-Sellers Award for Creative Writing and two research grants. Peter is a 2000 graduate of the Mason MFA program.
