Visiting Writers Series Continues with Philip Metres

Philip Metres, the author of many books including Sand Opera, To See the Earth, A Concordance of Leaves, abu ghraib arias, and Ode to Oil, will be the next writer to speak as part of the Visiting Writers Series on Wednesday, March 2nd, in Research 1, Room 163 at 7:30 p.m.

Metres' work has appeared in Best American Poetry and Inclined to Speak: Contemporary Arab American Poetry. He has garnered an NEA, a Watson Fellowship, two Ohio Arts Council Grants, and the Cleveland Arts Prize. He currently teaches literature and creative writing at John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio.

He is the second writer to speak for this year's Visiting Writers Series, following Leslie Pietrzyk who spoke on February 8th. The next speakers will be Porochista Khakpour on Monday, March 21st, and Leslie Jamison on Tuesday, March 22nd. For more information, please visit our events page here.
