Fall for the Book announces new headliner: Ariel Lawhon
Wednesday, October 8, 2025 7:30 PM EDT
Harris Theater

Novelist Ariel Lawhon will be delivering a lecture on her work at Harris Theatre on George Mason University’s Fairfax Campus as a headliner for this year's Fall for the Book festival. Lawhon will be standing in for former headliner Celeste Ng, as she had to cancel her event.
Set in 1789 and inspired by a true story, Lawhon’s latest historical thriller, The Frozen River, tells the story of Martha Ballard, a midwife who investigates a suspicious murder during a time when women were expected to stay seen and not heard. The Frozen River was a Good Morning America Book Club pick and NPR’s 2023 Book of the Year. Lawhon will also be discussing some of her earlier works, I Was Anastasia and Code Name Hélène.
Tickets are required for this event and can be reserved through Eventbrite.
