Visiting Writer Jon Pineda

Poet, novelist and memoirist Jon Pineda, author of the new novel Let's No One Get Hurt, will read from and discuss his work as part of the Creative Writing Program’s Visiting Writer Series. The event—free and open to the public—begins at 7 p.m. on Monday, April 23, in Merten Hall, Room 1203, on Mason’s Fairfax campus.

Pineda’s other books include the poetry collection Little Anodynes, winner of the 2016 Library of Virginia Literary Award; the novel Apology, winner of the 2013 Milkweed National Fiction Prize; and the memoir Sleep in Me, a 2010 Barnes and Noble Discover Great New Writers selection. His first poetry collection Birthmark was selected by poet Ralph Burns for the 2003 Crab Orchard Award Series in Poetry Open Competition, and his second collection The Translator's Diary received the 2007 Green Rose Prize from New Issues Poetry & Prose.

A core member of the MFA faculty at Queens University of Charlotte, Jon lives in Virginia with his family and teaches at the University of Mary Washington.
