21st Annual Fall for the Book

3 Days | 150 Authors

October 10, 2019, 9:00 AM to October 12, 2019, 7:00 PM EDT

Based at George Mason University, Fall for the Book is an independent non-profit literary arts organization that promotes reading by sponsoring a variety of year-round events and activities, the flagship of which is the Fall for the Book festival held each October. The festival as well as other activities for both children and adults:

  • Connect readers and authors so that readers become acquainted on a personal level with writers and their work in new and vibrant ways;

  • Illustrate the many ways reading encourages cultural growth through empathy and knowledge; and

  • Give children their first experience with the thrill of writing creatively through tailored workshops and readings, as well as first publication opportunities.

Just some of the authors who helped celebrate the festival's 20th anniversary in 2018 were Tayari Jones, Elizabeth Strout, Elizabeth Kostova, Paul Hawken, and Congressman John Lewis.
