A 2024 recipient of the Sharon Draznin Award for Excellence in Judaic Studies, Darbyshire participated in several student organizations, including serving as the president of the Ahavah, the LGBTQ+ Jewish RSO.

For poet John Cummings, getting engaged with Poetry Daily has allowed him to help build bridges between poets, publishers, and readers in ways he never imagined. John is part of the effort by faculty and creative writing students to turn the respected 23-year-old online journal, the administration and publication of which trnasition to Mason in 2019, into a robust platform for poetry in the 21st century.
