Janet Ha Poirot is an assistant professor and associate director of academic services with the Bachelor of Individualized Studies Program (BIS). She received her BA in English from Carnegie Mellon University and an MFA in creative writing at George Mason University.
She taught and developed the online curriculum for BIS 300-Understanding Interdisciplinary Studies and BIS 390-The Research Process. Both courses develop a student's academic writing and research skills to complete a research project. She has also developed and taught BIS 301-Adult Learner Transition, which helps adult learners develop skills and plans to overcome challenges of completing a bachelor's degree as an adult. She is currently teaching BIS 490, a course designed for students to complete an interdisciplinary senior capstone research project.
Her interests include classical literature, writing novels, and adult student curriculum.
